Greetings Science Colleagues,

Question: How many WA science teachers are aware of the existence of this Report: "STEM EDUCATION, INNOVATION AND YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT: RISING TO THE CHALLENGES”?

PRIORITY NEEDS IN STEM EDUCATION IN WA SCHOOLS [Pages 12 - 14]

Stronger Government leadership on strengthening STEM education in WA schools
Strengthen the teaching of primary and lower secondary school maths, science and technology.
Increase the engagement of Employers of STEM graduates with the school education system; coordinate the external resources they provide; and improve teacher access to these resources
Ensure that STEM support initiatives place emphasis on low and medium socioeconomic schools to optimise impact
Raise the profile of STEM with School Principals

Priority Need No. 2 Lists a number of STEM resources. I would like to add the quintessential motivating STEM resource: STELR: URL: http://www.stelr.org.au STEM teachers need more resources like the STELR program to use with their classes.

Best Wishes,

Mike McGarry
