Who Is It For? This session is for principals, deputy principals, registrars, business managers, support staff, teaching staff, P&C members and community members/volunteers who want to pursue carbon reduction and efficiency at their school. Anyone involved with a school is encouraged to come along and learn more.

An exciting new Low Carbon Schools Pilot Program has recently been launched in WA that aims to assist schools to reduce carbon and save money on utilities. The program is the first of its kind in Australia and is led by Dr Vanessa Rauland and Dr Samantha Hall, who helped South Fremantle Senior High School become the first certified carbon neutral school in Australia in 2012. 

The program will provide a structured two-year program that is designed to help schools monitor and reduce carbon emissions from energy, water, waste and transport and aims to reduce energy-related emissions by 20%. The program will provide a series of workshops where participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to reduce resource, consumption, carbon emissions and costs in their school. There will also be monthly meet-ups between schools to provide opportunities to share experiences and foster partnership opportunities with local businesses and organisations.
