NOMINATIONS FOR ASTA TREASURER
Nominations are invited for the position of Treasurer of the Australian Science Teachers Association for 2016-2020 (four year term). The position officially commences 1 January 2016.

Candidates for this position:

*                     must be a member of one of the STAs;

*                     must have a reasonable knowledge of ASTA and ASTA projects;

*                     should have a reasonable understanding of ASTA Council, and must be able to make an effective contribution to the leadership provided by the Executive of ASTA;

* should have a vision for ASTA as the peak national professional association representing science educators, and be able to contribute to the development and management of its projects and plans.

Previous financial management experience is desirable but not essential. The role of Treasurer is to oversee the plans and strategies of ASTA from a financial perspective. Clerical skills such as bookkeeping and MYOB are not required as these functions are carried out by employed office staff.
Professional development courses in financial management for the successful nominee would be made available if required.
The position is voluntary but offers the successful nominee a rewarding four-year experience including unique professional development and networking opportunities. It is supported by an honorarium, and by the administrative and clerical resources of the ASTA Secretariat.
To nominate, please forward an expression of interest including a half-page summary that addresses the four points above. Candidates must be nominated and seconded by a member of one of the STAs.
Nominations close 5:00 pm Monday 9 November 2015
Nominations should be sent to the ASTA Chief Executive Officer Vic Dobos at ceo at asta.edu.au
For further information and copies of the position description, contact Vic Dobos at ceo at asta.edu.au or on 02 6282 9377.
Cheers,
