Now statewide! $3000 in sustainability prizes available for primary and high schools, individuals and community groups.

Young people will solve problems and put their creativity to the test in this exciting initiative that encourages you to reuse, repurpose and upcycle used items before throwing them away.

Share in $3000 in prizes including worm farms, compost bins, waste avoidance workshops and sustainability books.

The theme for 2016 is Wearable waste! Re-invent rubbish into something you can wear or upcycle old clothes or accessories into something new and send us a photo of your creation. It's that simple.

See project ideas here http://www.switchyourthinking.com/our-projects/young-reinventor-of-the-year/curriculum-links/

Entries from individuals, classes or whole schools are welcome at both a Primary and High School level

Prize winners will receive a sustainability pack tailored to help them and their school to become more sustainable.

Entries will be judged on:

* Relation to the 2016 theme (does your invention re-invent rubbish into something you can wear or upcycle old clothes or accessories into something new?)
* Use of an existing waste stream - does your invention use items that are routinely thrown away at your school or in your home or community?
* Practicality - is your invention useful? Does it suit its purpose?
* Aesthetics - Does your invention look appealing?
