Focus on Mining Camps 2016

Do you want to feel the rumble of dump trucks and a distant explosion, inspect an operational mine site, rub shoulders with industry professionals and learn about the role of science and mathematics in the mining industry?



If this sounds like the adventure you are looking for, then come and join us for five days as we experience what the mining industry in WA is really like on a Focus on Mining camp! WA School of Mines will be running two Focus on Mining camps in 2016. During the camp, students will tour operational mine sites, participate in hands-on workshops on campus, and meet lecturers, students and mining industry leaders.



Year 11 and 12 Focus on Mining camp to the South West

When: 11-15 July 2016                       Cost: Free

Who: Year 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry, Earth/Environmental Science and Mathematics students who are considering studying mining-related courses at university, and are interested in working in the mining industry.

Year 10 Focus on Mining camp to Kalgoorlie

When: 25-29 July 2016                       Cost: Free

Who: Year 10 Science, Environmental Science and Mathematics students who have an interest in mining sciences and would like an introduction to the industry



Previous site visits have included Talison Lithium, BHP Worsley Alumina, Newmont Boddington Gold, Bunbury Port, The CUT simulated underground mine and Curtin University Bentley campus.
