 <!--#yiv4017163012 P {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;}-->Hi all
The STAWA Science Talent Search is celebrating 60 years of supporting creative project work in Science. The Science Talent Search information will be available on the STAWA website soon, and hardcopies of the handbook will be sent out to all schools in the next few weeks.
One of the targets of STS is to increase the number of entries from regional schools. Funding has been provided from our two national sponsors (BHP Billiton Foundation and Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd) to assist us in achieving this target. This funding will provide support and prize money for regional heats of STS.
Last year a very successful STS Regional competition was held in the Goldfields. Finalist entries from the Goldfields Region STS Competition received prizes from STS sponsors and were sent through for the final judging in the STS competition. One of the entries from the Goldfields made the finals of the BHP Billition Foundation Science and Engineering Awards.
This year we are looking to add at least one other regional competition to STS. Professional Learning  opportunities through CSIRO and support from STAWA will be available to regional areas holding a competition.
If you are interested in hosting a regional STS competition in your area email me direct (julie.weber at education.wa.edu.au), don't reply to this email.
If you are in regional area and would like to participate in the competition, but don't want to host a regional event, let me know (by emailing me direct) so I can keep you up to date with information as it becomes available.
Regards
Julie WeberSTS Coordinator
