Mine also found it tough.....due to a couple of sketchy questions that looked OK but didn't play out well. So I plan to scale by 3-5% (still finishing essays). Last year I did too - for similar reasons, and was moderated by less than a % (vindicated).
Other issues:
Section B didn't add up (Q36 says = 14 marks but added up to 13), and original total of 105 doesn't really match design brief (for what its worth).
Marking guide on tools and natural selection I would argue that natural selection favoured those with the variations to be able to construct better tools...so it DOES operate. (but yes...culture itself is not inherited).
Marking guide on 36b talks about carrying angle. Question asks about pelvis features. Broader pelvis creates a need for carrying angle, but the carrying angle itself is due to the angling of the femur is it not? Well....femur does not equal pelvis, so doesnt meet constraints of question.
36e is pretty specific....and my kids all struggled including top A students.
Q34 - Sanger Method. My Biol kids (and the HB kids who do both)...no problem, HB kids...given the depth in text and Sanger not being stated in syllabus (unlike Biol syllabus) ...this seems a bit too detailed. Genome sequencing...sure....in principle (it's a syllabus point)...details of Sanger...hmmmm......

Otherwise...all good.
