Hi All,
Start building your PL calendar.

CONSTAWA 2020: 3 – 4 April. https://www.stawa.net/conferences/constawa/
We are building an exciting Primary and Secondary Science program. For new secondary science teachers, those in their first couple of years of teaching or teaching science out of field we are developing a special Friday afternoon program. Save the date and start the ball rolling with your administration.

Harry Perkins Institute
I am sharing the following PL opportunities sent to me from STAWA member, Judith Lane. Judi is the Community Education & Engagement Manager, Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Three opportunities for Professional Learning for Science, Chemistry and Maths teachers are on offer in 2020 at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
These sessions provide hands-on, curriculum linked experiences that teachers can engage in and then take strategies and ideas back to their classrooms.
Teachers can extend their practice inside and outside of the classroom and address ATSIL Standards competencies through these practical Teacher PD sessions.

  1. Protein Power - Chemistry Teachers
A great opportunity for Chemistry Teachers to immerse themselves in our proteins based workshop. Spend an interactive session exploring the primary, secondary and tertiary structure of proteins. This includes understanding the formation of zwitterions and role of functional groups. Then head to the lab for an investigation of antibiotic resistance using protein electrophoresis techniques. Next, conduct an analysis of protein structure using the same program biochemists use.
