Hi All,
I am forwarding details and bookings regarding the Bayliss Lecture for this year.

Shining a light on crime: Applications of spectroscopy to forensic science

Dr Georgina Sauzier, School of Molecular and Life Sciences, Curtin University

Paint, cosmetics, ink. All of these can be forms of forensic evidence that can help detectives to make links between individuals, objects and locations – a critically important part of a criminal investigation. But how to get the most useful information from these types of evidence? This is where chemistry plays an essential role. Join Dr Georgina Sauzier as she explores a key tool of analytical chemistry and how it can be used for analysis of forensic evidence.

About Georgina

Dr Georgina Sauzier received her PhD in forensic chemistry at Curtin University in 2016. She has a broad background in trace evidence analysis, document examination and latent fingermark detection. She is currently a lecturer within the School of Molecular Life Sciences at Curtin University. When she isn’t teaching about various fingerprint detection techniques, she studies the use of spectroscopic and chromatographic methods to characterise, classify and interpret forensic evidence. She is also heavily engaged with science communication to schools and the general public. For more information on Georgina’s background see https://myfuture.edu.au/case-studies/details?id=solving-mysteries-by-chemistry#/
