My students were given three articles/documents http://theconversation.com/climate-change-threatens-western-australias-iconic-shark-bay-32428, http://frdc.com.au/knowledge/publications/fish/Pages/21-2_articles/4_climate-changes.aspx and http://marinewaters.fish.wa.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/V4-01-Leeuwin-Current-InDepth.pdf on the Shark Bay heat wave and how it affects rock lobster and scallop populations among other species. They had to research these documents and will answer related questions for a validation.

I am showing my students "Australia - Eye of the Storm" - the two episodes on El Nino and La Nina.  They will then be comparing the impact of  ESNO on Western Red and Eastern Grey kangaroos.

Hi All,

I have given my students an assessment task - "Extended response (research and validation) - Climatic events impacting on the carrying capacity of a population".  This was chosen as an assessment from the Sample Assessment Outline (perhaps unwisely).

The students are currently working on their research.  It was relatively simple to come up with a broad set of questions asking for definitions, examples of climatic events and their effect on carrying capacity etc; but I am really struggling to come up with a validation assessment.

Can anyone out there point me in a fruitful direction or provide resources?
