Discovery and Learning Manager
Fixed Term (2 years) - Full Time (with the possibility of extension and/ or permanency)
(GOSAC) Specified Callings Level 2, $91,548.00 - $101,179.00 per annum + 9.5% superannuation

Job Description
This position manages the Zoo's Discovery and Learning team and is responsible for the coordination of its activities. A primary role of the position is to ensure the effective delivery of experiences, programs and awareness campaigns to support the Zoo's role in saving wildlife. The manager is responsible to lead the development and evaluation of the work of the section to ensure that message delivery effectively supports the Zoo's conservation approach. This position is required to provide leadership as well as incorporate innovation and up to date knowledge to enhance the Zoo's community awareness campaigns and education programs.

Selection Criteria
ESSENTIAL

*         Bachelor's degree in Education or an equivalent.

*         Demonstrated knowledge of community based education approaches and understanding of current curriculum trends and teaching methods for various phases of development.

*         Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively lead and mentor a team of education professionals in delivering client focussed, quality services.

*         High level organisational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate projects related to this role.

*         Knowledge of and ability to effectively monitor budgets and related financial reporting.
DESIRABLE
*         Knowledge and or experience of Zoo, park or aquaria education, interpretation and advocacy program approaches.
*         Knowledge of and commitment to conservation consistent with the role of Zoos.
