Hi and best wishes to all Catalist members,
I’ve been using lockdown to catch up on some videos. A resource you might find useful is by Bristol ChemLabS at the University of Bristol:
YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD7Gud4DucBvmw_zCTKe70g/featured
Website http://www.bristol.ac.uk/chemistry/outreach/

Playlists include:

  * Specific undergraduate organic chemistry experiments in great detail, which can be viewed in their entirety or broken down into short videos of each step
  * Spectacular chemistry demonstrations, both large and small
  * Teacher training and student demonstrations
  * Narrated powerpoints, Women in Science series and other public presentations
  * Virtual tours of their spectroscopy labs and other facilities*

* Perth teachers may be interested to know that our ECU chemistry labs contain almost all these instruments, and that we offer hands-on analytical chemistry visits to small groups of students. Contact Michelle Austin at m.austin at ecu.edu.au<mailto:m.austin at ecu.edu.au> for details.

These videos are narrated by (and often feature) Mr. Tim Harrison, an award-winning UK chemist and former schoolteacher who used to teach in Queensland and (usually) travels the world delivering chemistry outreach lectures, demonstrations and training. ECU chemist Dr Magda Wajrak has often hosted Tim on trips to Perth and the South-West of WA.
Please note that these videos are no-frills but professional recordings of working labs and experiment setups/demos. They are primarily aimed at UK science teachers and are based on UK safety regulations, which may differ from ours – read the disclaimers and information provided at the end of each video.

Excelsior! 😊
