Subject: Year 7-12 STEM -Engineering project

Hi All,

Following are details and an invitation to be involved in a High School STEM -Engineering project. If you are interested contact Julie Nash, her details conclude the email.

You also double the value of participation as entries will also be included in the STAWA Science Talent Search competition, Engineering Category.

The High School’s STEM -Engineering project is part of this year’s Spillcon 2019. Spillcon will bring together local, regional and global environmental and shipping representatives across industry, government and non-government organisations to provide an avenue to discuss issues including cause and prevention, preparedness, response management and environmental issues. A raft of high calibre national and international speakers will address the conference on their particular areas of expertise.

Proudly organised by Australia’s key government and industry agencies responsible for Australia’s marine environmental protection arrangements, the Australian Institute of Petroleum and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

The competition for students Year 7-12, Science, is a Maritime Engineering tasks for students to design their own tool to clean up an oil spill.

A flyer is attached.

There will be prizes to be won, for individuals or schools and the opportunity for a dozen of students from each school to attend the conference’s final day for an On-water Demonstration on an oil spill – an amazing session that all attendees love watching. There’s also the opportunity for the students to be addressed by someone within the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to discuss jobs within the industry and in particular, engineering.

If interested please contact Julie directly by phone or email.
